The toll that is taken on the family of the person enduring the domestic violence, they are under attack as well .There is an uncertanty that gets bundled becaus they may love the person as well and have never experienced any physical or emotional pain at the hands of the abuser. They are most likley the other care giver and the other adult.in the family unit. The embedded scars that are left on the onlookers can be permanent and life changing.They can be manifested into personalities that lay dormant for years and are triggered at a later date. Talking to you extended family, removing them from the situation and getting them counseling are some of the things you can do to protect them.
